Wedding family crest
A wedding family crest is a decorative emblem for two people starting a household: one shared symbol, a short name they actually use, optional lettering that still fits on a card, and a finish that matches the paper or the frame. On Family Crest .app you design it in Family Crest Maker, the same homepage studio. If you arrived from a wedding group, a Facebook thread, or a shared event link, the next step is ordinary: open the homepage composer, write a brief you can explain, and download a file.
This page is a wedding-oriented landing, not a registry and not a clerk who grants arms. Sharing links from a group chat may carry campaign parameters; the page itself uses ordinary internal links. You do not need drawing experience. You do need one story the couple would still want on the wall in five years.
Disclaimer. Family Crest Maker is a decorative design tool. A wedding family crest is not official heraldry, not a granted coat of arms, and not proof that a historical emblem belongs to anyone. This website does not look up crests by surname, register arms, or authenticate ancestry.
A shared emblem, not a certificate
A wedding crest gift is a picture two people can point to, not a document that anyone granted them arms. Keep it small and readable. A river they both grew up near, a book they keep handing each other, or an oak from a first home will survive a program and a favor better than a lion, a ship, a castle, and four colors on the same shield.
Ask what they would still want after the weekend. Ceremony language fades. A household symbol should still make sense on ordinary stationery. If relatives suggest a historical shield tied to a shared name, treat that as conversation, not as a brief. This studio will not return an official family coat of arms.
Write the couple’s name the way they want to see it. If they are combining names, say so and keep the lettering short. Do not invent a title. The name on the artwork is creative lettering. AI-generated text can misspell words; inspect every character before you print invitations or ship a frame.
Occasion language, wrapping, and gifts for parents or Christmas stay on family crest gifts. Christmas stays on that hub; there is no separate Christmas page. Customization of the brief is covered on personalized family crest.
Invitations, programs, and small paper
Wedding paper is unforgiving. A crest that looks rich on a large screen can collapse into a blur on an invitation, a ceremony program, a menu, or a place card. Match the style to the smallest size you will actually print.
- Invitations and save-the-dates need a flatter emblem, a letter style, or a simple engraved shield so the shape stays a shape.
- Programs and menus can carry a little more line work, but lettering still has to read at arm’s length.
- Place cards and monograms should start from a design that already looks complete when it is tiny. Do not plan to “just shrink” a busy ceremonial picture.
Say the use in the brief: “a small invitation mark” is more useful than “make it elegant.” Two or three named colors — ivory, deep green, antique gold — are enough. A long greeting on a ribbon will vanish. If you want words, keep a short name or a two- or three-word motto.
Browse finishes in the materials library as inspiration, not as a preview of your personal generation. A gilded style can feel ceremonial in a suite; a flatter emblem is safer when the same file also has to work on a favor tag.
Favors and one larger print
Favors are often a second use of the same emblem: a tag, a small card in a box, a sticker on a candle, or a keepsake print in a thank-you note. Start from a design that already holds up small. Then, if you also want one framed gift for the couple, generate a second version only if the first is too flat for the wall — do not load the invitation mark with extra objects “so the frame feels official.”
A framed wedding print can use a classic or engraved finish, because line work has room to breathe. Favors should not wait for that richer version. Decide the paper uses first. After you generate, printable family crest explains PNG and PDF download, raster limits, and checking the file at real size before you take it to a printer.
You can browse styles and prepare the brief without paying. Generating uses credits and requires sign-in. Compare subscriptions and one-time packs on the pricing page before you submit. Checkout is handled by Stripe. Subscriptions renew until you cancel.
Write the couple’s brief
Name five things in order: the main subject, the arrangement, one supporting detail, two or three colors, and the intended use — invitation, favor, or framed gift. Say what to leave out.
Example:
A simple shield with one shared oak, two small stars, ivory and deep green, our short combined name under the shield, and a flat emblem finish for wedding invitations. Leave out extra animals, helmets, and long greetings.
A wedding group thread is a good place to collect one story, not twenty symbols. Cut the list before you open the homepage composer. For the longer tutorial of styles and common mistakes, open how to make a family crest. Everyday “crest” and “coat of arms” wording is on coat of arms maker.
Design, then download a file
Select a style, enter the name, add a motto only if those words will still matter after the wedding, write the story, and choose a shape: square 1:1, landscape 4:3, or portrait 3:4. Review the credit cost and sign in if you have not already.
When results appear, compare the images and read every letter. If a character is wrong, fix the brief and generate again. Save the design you prefer. Saved crests appear in My creations when you are signed in. Download a PNG at the original resolution or a printable image PDF. The PDF contains a raster image, not editable vector artwork, and SVG is not offered.
Before printing invitations or favors, confirm the pixel dimensions — enlarging a small image does not invent extra detail — and check lettering at the real size. If a generation fails or is canceled by the studio, reserved credits are returned once. Disliking the artwork is not a failed generation.
When you are ready

A wedding family crest is a decorative emblem the couple can explain. Give it as a story they made — not as official heraldry.
